Grace and Space: Taking it Easy in the New Year

HAPPY BELATED NEW YEAR!

Well here we are a little over 2 weeks into 2025, and in the words of Wendy Williams – “how you doin?”. Dragging through dry January? Still floating in the “New Year New Me” hopeful high? Hopefully it’s the latter but we are all proud of you if it’s the former.

Whether you sit down and write resolutions, or make mental notes of habits to break or new habits to be had, there really is something delightful about knowing that we collectively get a restart come January every year. And it seems no sooner than we push that reset button, the reality of that list we spent making, of personal goals and expectations turns into reality.

The hardest part for many of us aren’t the tasks we want to tick off our list(s), it’s the anxiety to complete it. Anxiety of failure leads to procrastination and hesitation, often leading us in the opposite direction of completion. And then the before you know it we’ve never even attempt the thing that we were so excited to take on.

As we enter into 2025 give yourself some grace and some space. It’s ok to go at things at your own speed. It’s ok to not do something right away ESPECIALLY after just surviving the holiday season! Give yourself some time to get your bearings, take a breath, recenter. We have a whole new year.
